Mary’s Meals provides daily meals in school for over 2,000 children in Southern Sudan. We also support a street children project in Khartoum.
School Feeding in Southern Sudan
Twenty one years of civil war has devastated the region and means the education sector is starting from scratch. The war resulted in a huge swathe of the population missing out on school. Mary’s Meals is establishing school feeding projects in schools in the Yirol area. In many places school still consists of a few benches under a tree. The challenges are many but the communities we work with are hungry for their children to have the chance to gain an education.
Street Children Project
Mary’s Meals provides food for children rescued from a life on the streets of Khartoum. They are given a safe, caring place to live on a farm outside the city. Here they can attend school or get vocational training that will equip them with the skills they need for a better future.
