Mary’s Meals Malawi is our largest school feeding programme, and we work closely with schools and community volunteers who help prepare and serve the nutritious meals every school day.

Human Resources Advisor – Operations (Permanent Position based in Blantyre)
Job purpose
Human Resource Advisor (Operations) is responsible for provision of high-quality HR Operations service, overseeing HR administration of hiring, retention, staff development, termination, personnel records, legal compliance, compensation, benefits, and long-term staffing strategies. This position reports to the Head of HR & People Development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field
At least 3 years’ experience working within a similar HR Advisory role.
A good knowledge and understanding of Malawi labour laws and best practice is a must.
Exceptional communication and relationship building skills.
Human Resources experience in a managerial position, preferably in a not for profit and/or a global organisation.
A creative and innovative thinker.
Demonstrated a strategic approach to HR with the ability and willingness to also execute the tactical elements of the job in a global organisation.
Strong non-profit background either professionally or via personal non-profit volunteering efforts.
Fluent written and spoken English and ability to communicate well across all levels.
Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word and Excel.
Team management experience, including leading, engaging, and motivating a team.
Strong planning, supervisory, and management skills.
2. HR Officer (Permanent Position based in Blantyre)
Job purpose
The HR Officer reports to HR Advisor (Operations) and is responsible for supporting Mary’s Meals Malawi’s (MMM) human resources (HR) day-to-day functions which includes recruitment, staffing; leave management, employee counselling; management of pension and group life assurance schemes, group personal accident insurance and medical issues.
The role ensures that HR policies are effectively implemented and that MMM fosters a positive and productive work environment.
Requirements
Minimum of a Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences or any relevant field from a recognized tertiary institution
At least 3 years work experience in a similar role
Fully up to date with all aspects of employment law and HR best practice
Experience in the implementation of employment policies and procedures
Ability to work autonomously and flexibly
Influencing, persuading, coaching and negotiating skills
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Pro-active and self-motivated
Excellent planning and organisation skills to meet deadlines
Proficient in the use of MS Office applications, email and the internet
Excellent attention to detail
Documentation and analytical skills
A good working knowledge of HR systems like PeopleHR
Ability to create HR communications appropriate for the audience.
