Our work in Ethiopia
Ethiopia is one of the poorest countries in the world, ranked 176 out of 193 countries and territories in the Human Development Index (HDI).
In the Tigray region, where we work, major catastrophes have caused unimaginable suffering: most famously, the famine of the mid-1980s; more recently, a brutal two-year conflict and a long-lasting drought that left millions of people hungry and more than half of the region’s children of children out of school.
We work with a local partner, Daughters of Charity Tigray, to provide nutritious daily meals to more than 120,000 children across the region every school day.
