Spain – a night of fundraising to remember

Aloha College in Marbella raises funds to deliver daily meals to more than 420 pupils at Katunula Primary for a whole school year.

Each year, the community of Aloha College in Marbella, Spain, chooses a charitable organisation to get behind and raise money for. Mary’s Meals is the school’s charity of choice this year, and students and families alike are rallying to raise funds to provide nutritious meals for every pupil at Katunula Primary School in Zambia through the Sponsor a School initiative.

Aloha’s fundraising campaign launched with a charity gala in early April and what was planned as the first of many events took everyone by surprise! Thanks to the generosity of all who attended the evening, the school community raised the full amount needed to ensure that more than 420 pupils at Katunula Primary will receive Mary’s Meals for a whole school year.

The gala featured a lively auction, and guests enjoyed testimonies from Mary’s Meals Spain president Elisalex Löwenstein and two members of the Mary’s Meals Spain board of trustees, Valvanera Ortiz and Paul Griffin. There were also musical performances by Aloha College students. Earlier that day, Paul Griffin had visited the students of Aloha to deepen their understanding of the impact of our work.
