UK – fundraising with egg-cellent results!
Three generations of Youngs have raised an incredible £35,000 to help provide school meals for children living in some of the world’s poorest communities.
Published onEaster was a busy time for the Young family – our incredible fundraisers from Midlothian, Scotland. Once again, they came together to use their creative skills to raise vital funds for Mary’s Meals – this time, producing charming chocolate egg covers!
This wasn’t a one-off act of kindness; the Young’s efforts are part of a long-standing family tradition. Over the years, three generations of Youngs – grandparents, mum, and daughter – have crafted 6,500 ‘hats’ for chocolate eggs, 410 scarves, and 35 baby blankets, raising an incredible £35,000 to help provide school meals for children living in some of the world’s poorest communities.
Grandparents Colin and Jackie first discovered Mary’s Meals 12 years ago while watching a television programme featuring our work in Malawi. Moved by what they saw, the couple decided to act, and their commitment has remained unwavering ever since!
Their granddaughter, Lucy, now 16, began helping at just eight years old. She now creates crochet animals to sell alongside her grandparents’ knits and has raised an impressive £1,000 from her crafting alone.
This year, the family has its sights set on raising £3,000 through their Easter and Christmas projects.
