Mary’s Meals is serving more than 55,000 children in Kenya
Kenya is one of the poorest countries in the world, ranked 143 out of 193 countries and territories in the Human Development Index (HDI).
Food insecurity tends to be most prevalent in rural areas, where families rely on agriculture for a living. In Turkana County – a vast, extremely arid area where Mary’s Meals serves more than 55,000 children in over 730 places of education – food insecurity and malnutrition levels are among the highest in the country.
Our programme is implemented by Mary’s Meals Kenya and our partner Caritas Lodwar (Diocese of Lodwar), with meals served in Early Childhood Development and Education centres (pre-schools) where children can build the foundation for educational success and future productivity.
