Where we work

Life in Thailand

Thailand is currently ranked 66 out of 191 countries and territories in the Human Development Index (HDI).  Located in southeast Asia, Thailand is bordered by Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia.

The population has soared over the last century, from 20 million in 1950 to over 70 million today. Its proximity to insecure borders has made Thailand home to numerous migrant groups, such as displaced families from Myanmar who are particularly vulnerable to food insecurity.

Mary’s Meals in Thailand

Mary’s Meals has been serving school meals in Thailand since 2008.

Working in partnership with the Living Water Foundation, we reach 631 children in four schools in Rangsit, Sattahip, Thau Rua and Samut Sakhon.

As refugees from Myanmar struggle to earn a living, sending their children to school is often not prioritised. Our programme is a social safety net for vulnerable migrant families from Myanmar living in Thailand, helping to protect their children from exploitation.
